Common Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.

For Designers

Q"Will this confuse my client?"
No. Clients don't need an account. They just click the link you send them. The interface is minimal. They view the design, leave comments, and approve or request changes. Most clients figure it out in seconds without any instructions.
Q"Can my client accidentally break something?"
No. Clients can only view and comment. They cannot edit your design, delete comments, change settings, or access anything else in your account. The worst that can happen is an approval or comment you didn't expect, and you can always upload a new version.
Q"Do you support PDFs?"
Yes. You can upload PDF documents up to 50MB. Reviewers can flip through pages, zoom in, and pin comments to specific pages.
Q"Do you support videos?"
Yes. You can upload MP4, MOV, or WebM files up to 100MB. Aligno transcodes uploads to H.264 MP4 and extracts a poster frame, so playback is consistent across browsers. Reviewers can scrub the timeline, step frame-by-frame, and pin comments to exact timestamps.
Q"What if my client approves by mistake?"
You control the project status. If a client approves prematurely, you can upload a new version which resets the approval status. The mistaken approval is preserved in the version history for your records.
Q"Do comments disappear when I upload a new version?"
No. Comments from previous versions are preserved in the version history. You can see what feedback was given on each version. Clients only see the current version, but you have the full history.
Q"Can I see who viewed my share link?"
Currently, Aligno tracks comments and approvals (with names), but not anonymous views. If someone opens the link without commenting, you won't see their visit. This may change in future updates.

Workflow Questions

Q"Can I share multiple designs with one link?"
Each asset gets its own share link. This keeps feedback focused and approvals clear. If you need to share multiple designs, create a project with multiple assets. Each one gets its own link you can send separately or together.
Q"Can multiple people comment on the same design?"
Yes. Anyone with the share link can view and comment. Each commenter enters their name, so you can see who said what. This works well when you need feedback from multiple stakeholders.
Q"Is there an audit trail of changes and approvals?"
Yes. Every comment, approval, and version upload is timestamped and attributed. You can see exactly who approved what and when. This is useful for accountability and resolving any "I never approved that" disputes.
Q"Can I use Aligno for non-client reviews?"
Yes, but Aligno is primarily optimized for client-facing review and final sign-off. For deep internal whiteboarding or co-editing, dedicated design editors may be a better fit. Aligno works best when you want a clean approval decision with a clear record.
Q"What's the difference between 'Approved' and 'Changes Requested'?"
Approved means the client is satisfied and the design can proceed to the next stage.Changes Requestedmeans revisions are needed before approval. Both are clear signals. No more guessing what "looks good!" actually means.

Billing Questions

Q"What happens to my projects if I downgrade?"
Your existing projects remain accessible. You won't be able to create new projects if you're over the new plan's limit, but nothing gets deleted. You can upgrade again anytime to regain full access.
Q"Can I cancel anytime?"
Yes. Cancel from your account settings. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period. After that, you'll be on the free tier with its limits. Your data isn't deleted, and you can always upgrade again.
Q"Is there a free plan?"
Yes. There's a free tier you can use indefinitely with limited projects and assets. Upgrade when you need more capacity.

Security & Privacy

Q"Is my work secure?"
Share links are private by default, so only people with the link can access them. You can add password protection for sensitive work. Links can also be set to expire after a certain date.
Q"Can I delete my data?"
Yes. You can delete individual projects, assets, and comments. You can also delete your entire account from the settings page. Deletion is permanent.
